FEELING CHEEKY: CHICA Y CHICO BLUSH REVIEW

KAYLA ALLARD on DECEMBER 31, 2019

I’m always excited to receive a new blush. This time Beautchat sent me over the Chica Y Chico One Touch Ppyam Ppyam Duo Blusher! The blusher comes in a single pan with 2 colors, the base (a darker brownish red and the point  (a much lighter peachy beige color that has subtle glitter reflects in it).

This product aims to give a gradient-like effect when applied but there are other ways you can use this as well. As mentioned, one way is the advertised gradient look. They state to place the point color at the top and the base color below it, then blend together.

Personally, I prefer to just combine the colors in the pan! When I did the separate/blend method, my blush never seemed to be even. So mixing the colors in the pan, although didn’t allow for the gradient look, did give me a rich auburn color.

You can also use these separately as well. I can imagine the point color being a beautiful highlight or eyeshadow! They state that this is a no-fail blush and I agree. It’s super easy to apply but start with a light hand as this particular color can get dark quickly. Remember, you can always add but you can’t take away.

Top and middle swatch are 4 swipes. Bottom is mixed.

The negatives.

Yes, unfortunately, I do have 2 negatives for this blush. One very straightforward and one that’s a little bit tough to explain. One the price. On Jolse this blush is $18. I think this is pretty steep for essentially 1 blush. I wouldn’t consider this something that you NEED to go spend your money on right now. My suggestion is that if this interests you, to wait to buy this until it’s on sale. Second, the image on the container. This may be confusing to some. But the image on the packaging makes me slightly uncomfortable. On the container, there is a small drawing of what I perceive to be a Native American. Living in the US and knowing about the appropriation of Native American culture and some of the struggles they’ve been having, it makes me a bit wary that this was used for this product. I just think that there could’ve been something else that could have been used instead, especially since nothing about this blush has anything to do with that image.

Other than that, I really enjoyed this blush and will keep using it! I’ll be waiting to buy any on my own until it drops in price. But I definitely have my eye on color 02.
